Ohio Made Fishing Lures and Tackle
By Scott Heston
This new book
delves into the history and products of lure, fishing accessory and
reel makers from the Buckeye state. Ohio is rich in angling tradition
and many famous and historical tackle companies resided within its
boundaries.
From A. C. Shiner to F. C. Woods the book gives historical
information about the various products. Approximately 65 companies are
discussed, each with a separate chapter, and detailed information. The
book is well illustrated with black and white photographs, patent
drawings, and advertising pages. The author visited many of the lure
makers discussed in the book and presents first hand information that
has not been available elsewhere. Some of the information is the same
as has been presented in other reference books, but not in a state
specific book. I believe most collectors should be able to glean some
useful information from this book, especially about smaller
miscellaneous tackle companies.
The book is self published and I would have liked to have seen a
better job of proof reading, but it is full of good information. It is
a soft cover format, contains 280 pages and retails for $24.95 plus
$2.00 shipping and handling. More details and ordering information can
be found on Scott Heston's web site
