eBay Report: April 2005

Some sales on eBay never seem to make any sense. An example this month was the sale of a very common Ocean City German silver and hard rubber surf reel in VG that was on a 6' boat rod in VG. Individually, both items are very hard to sell... this outfit brought $302.50!

Rods:

There were quite a few interesting rods this month, ranging from fiberglass to traditional cane or bamboo. Garnering 22 bids was a Paul Young 8' bamboo spinning rod in EX condition. It was two piece/one tip and sold for $518. A Montague spinning rod, 7', 2/1 in EX reached $125.75. A Leonard 2 hand salmon rod, 10' 6" and EX brought $800. A Leonard #50½ Tournament, 8'6", 3/2 for a 5 wt line and restored to EX- topped out at $860. An Horrocks-Ibbotson Beaverkill 8' 6" fly rod, 3/2, and VG sold for $175, while an H-I Princess, 7'6", 2/1 and VG reached $227.50. A 7'6" Pezon et Michel bamboo fly rod with Abercrombie & Fitch markings, 2/1, 6 wt, and EX sold for $482.77.

Fiberglass rods of interest included a Phillipson Epoxite 6'6" fly rod formerly owned and signed by Dave Whitlock. It was Whitlock's favorite "bream" rod - 2/2, for a 4 wt sold for $500.  A Browning Silaflex baitcasting rod, 6' and EX which brought $391.99. A Fenwick Feralite 6', 2/1 baitcasting rod in EX sold for a whopping $709.11. A Fenwick Voyager FC61-3, 6' casting pack rod in EX brought $175.50.
