Lang's Auction, which will be reported on next month, slowed
bidding on other auctions quite a bit. But read on...
Rods:
A Heddon Deluxe glass casting rod, 5' light action, in VG sold for
$124.49. A Phillipson "Johnson Profile" glass casting rod, 5'6" and VG
brought $600. A Lyle Dickerson 6' bamboo casting rod, 2/2 in EX topped
out at $810. A real wowser was a Fenwick FC60 6' glass rod that was
New in Case and brought $1505.
Bamboo fly rod gleanings produced a
Weber Henshall Masterkraft, 9', 3/2 in VG which sold for $305. An F.
E. Thomas, 7'6", 2/2, and VG brought $808. A Bartlett antique fly rod,
3/2, 8' with rattan grip and EX reached $450. A Granger Deluxe, 9',
3/2 and EX sold for $456. An 8', 3/2 Heddon 50 Deluxe President
fetched a nice $1206.
A 1965 wooden shipping crate for an E. F. Payne rod, with paper
label and EX sold for $200. A Shakespeare Purist glass Wonderod, 7',
2/1 and mint reached $125. And one of those Glo-Lure Guncaster spring
loaded gimmicks that was EX in box brought $331.78.
Lures:
Miscellaneous maker
offerings included a Tooley's Spinnered Darter in red & white and VG
condition that sold for $461. It is shown to the right. An Arbogast
Jitterbug in blue wave color that was EX. It received 22 bids before
selling for $350.09. An Arbogast Tin Liz Sunfish that was EX in a VG
box/papers brought $427.50. An Arbogast Hula Popper, white/blue head
and VG reached $330.98. An "unknown" solid plastic shrimp lure in
rainbow color and VG brought $455, while a Nichol's Shrimp in
Strawberry and VG reached $502.02. A Mint in Box/papers Bite-Em-Bait
in red & white brought $465. A Paw Paw Bullhead, white & red, and Mint
in an EX box brought $1025, while another that was Black & red and
Mint in an EX box/papers realized $1415.83. A Spinno-Minno in a pastel
yellow color and EX reached $331.99. An EX Wilton or Hennings glass
minnow tube brought $860.
A Heddon Tadpolly in a VG intro box in green scale and VG sold for
$256.09. A Heavy Casting Minnow in white and VG brought $1125. An EX-
Dummy Double Minnow #1500 in Green Crackleback sold for $1525.01. A
Bucktail Surface Minnow #302, rainbow and VG+ achieved $560. A Midget
River Runt #9010BPL, blue pearl, that was Mint in Box brought $243.50.
A Float Hi bass bug, white with red tail sold for $450.
Creek Chub
lures included a Kingfish Pikie with GE and Strawberry Spot that was
EX- and brought $405. A Weed Frog #2819 that was frog color and NIB
sold for $710.
Metal lures were well represented by a late 1800s
John Pepper Batwing Spinner in VG that sold for $1299. A British James
Gregory Flexible Jointed Cleopatra in VG sold for $1226.01.
A salt
water 8" Fishmaster Heavyweight Tarpon Lure, white/red head, and EX in
a fair box sold for $406.88.
Miscellaneous Fishing Stuff:
An
EX and sought after Stan Gibbs fish carving of a bluegill drew a lot
of interest before topping out at $988.85. It is shown here.
A Fly
Caster pipe tobacco tin in VG brought $177.50. A Pennsylvania Fish
Commissioners tin sign with a bass on it (identified by the seller as
a trout) and in EX condition reached $99.99. A Shakespeare fishing
line display in VG, metal and 5.5" x 7.5" sold for $100.
Catalogs
included a Heddon 1923 in VG with foldout, which sold for $630. A CCBC
combination catalog/flyer from 1926 in Good fetched $464.26.
A Mint spool of
Shakespeare "Indian" silk fishing line in a VG box created a stir when
it sold for $363. Search your tackle boxes for one like the picture to
the right. Of course one of the buyers no longer needs that spool.
A J. W. Gilson (Florida) wooden tackle box in EX brought $710.
A
Tennessee Non-Resident Reelfoot Lake fishing license button, with
paper license, from 1937-38 in EX sold for $461.99.
Reels:
Casting reels included a Shakespeare Service #21642, 50 yard size
from 1910 in VG condition sold for $560. Wow! A Tournament #1744 that
was EX in a VG box/papers brought $225.49. An Arjon Commander that was
near Mint in leather case/papers, etc. sold for $431. An early style
Pflueger Supreme in VG brought $363.99. An Ambassadeur 5000D gold that
was mint in box/parts reached $1090. From Tradera's European auction
came a rare Ambassadeur 5000 in black with older font and EX in
leather case which sold for @$4100 USD.
Salt water and big
game reels were started off by A Pflueger Par #3859½,
GS and HR, 350 yard reel that was VG in a VG maroon box brought $481.
A George Gary reel, 5" diameter by 1½" wide and VG+ condition, which
sold for $609. A Fin-Nor 12/0 big game reel #248 in EX reached
$997.87. A Perez #1 surf reel that was New in Box sold for $227.50. A
California J. A. Coxe 4/0 reel in EX brought $787.
Kentucky reels included a Meek & Milam #2 GS reel
with 12:00 half handle that sold for $1200.
Tops
in the reel category was a very rare Willard H. Bradley reel, patented
in 1868, and G-VG condition that sold for $10,000. It is shown to the
left.
Fly reels included an Edward Vom
Hofe Restigouche 2/0 salmon size reel, in EX- that brought $1403. A
Pflueger Hawkeye 60 yard size that was VG sold for $392. A
Leonard-Mills 3" HR/GS trout reel in EX reached $965.15, while a
Leonard Bi-Metal fly reel, 2¼" diameter, and EX topped out at
$1413.88. Another that was 2-5/8" diameter and VG sold for $1559. A
raised pillar Pflueger Progress #1783, 60 yard, nickel and gunmetal
that was EX in a VG box sold for $255.
A 5" wood and brass
reel by Milwards in VG sold for $314.50. Another unmarked Nottingham
style reel in VG reached $201.
