eBay Report - August 2006

There were more nice reels for sale in August, and you could have spent yourself into the poor house.

Reels:

With all the nice reels for sale it hardly seemed necessary for someone to spend $230.61 for a relatively common brass 40 yard Hendryx reel - but someone did. An old brass 5:1 multiplier from the UK, c1850 and VG brought $368.32. Another British reel, brass single action with stop and VG sold for $587.85.

Indiana Reels included a Kiest reel in the tin/papers and VG, which brought $300. A Hardy Hardworth that looked like an Indiana reel to me, in VG brought $237. It is shown to the left, and you can judge for yourself. Not an Indiana reel, but an Allcock Aerial reel with ebonite (hard rubber) spool, 3.5" and VG brought $1312.44.

A Pflueger Atlapac #1660 in 6/0 size and Ex in the box with papers sold for $485. An Australian Samson #1 in poor condition with a poorly replaced foot sold for $1325. A Pflueger German silver and hard rubber sandwiched reel, 350 yards and EX brought $1150.

A 6600C that was mint in a mint box brought $553, and a 6500C in the same condition reached $631. Another example of the same reel brought $622 later in the month. Also from that era was a Shimano Bantam Beast Master V, which is a 2 speed reel. It was NIB and sold for $211.11.

Fly reels included a Hawks & Olgilvy, hard rubber and German silver trout reel, 60 yard with half handle and the owners name engraved in scrip and in VG, which brought $867. It is shown here.
