THE eBay Report - August 2008

There were quite a few nice miscellaneous lures offered this month....

Lures:

A really nifty Arbogast Tin Liz Walleye in EX condition starts off this month's selections. It sold for $828 and is shown to the right. An early Arbogast Jitterbug made of wood in black/white head, but only fair condition brought $242.03. A Bagley Rat Fink #RF2 in crawdad on natural wood and VG+ brought $303. An Outing Floating Get-Um lure, white/RH and VG- sold for $167.50.  A Strikemaster Rolling Diver in natural perch, VG+ in EX box/papers reached $350.  A frog colored Garland Cork Head Minnow in EX condition sold for $482.51. A new in box Reel Lure, with red and gold stripes sold for $315.88.

An Eureka Ghost lure BOX ONLY in VG condition topped out at $1569.

A plastic Heddon Lucky 13 in a natural sunfish color #2500 and EX condition sold for $330. A Frog Spot Spin Diver in VG reached $616.06. A Chugger Spook in clear with only one eye (on the bottom of the lure) in VG brought $657.70. A #50 Surface Minnow in Strawberry and VG brought $325. A VG Crab Wiggler, green scale and VG sold for $535. A #740 Punkinseed in silver shore color and EX in an EX- box sold for $1280.50.

Creek Chub Bait Company lures included a Wee Dee, frog color, and EX in an EX box/papers topped out at $616.06.  It is shown to the left.  A Pikie #710, white/blue head and EX- in a VG box sold for $258.77. A Dinger in skunk color that was EX in a G box/papers reached $370.98.  A Wounded Minnow #1506, goldfish color and EX- brought $526.76.

A South Bend #943 Min-Buck Minnow, Red and VG+ sold for $282.51. An acorn Shakespeare Bucktail Spinner, yellow/gold spots and VG brought $449.44. An unusual Paw Paw Special Moeller Mouse in VG+ sold for $158.40.

Rods:

Bamboo fly rods of interest included an 8'6" Payne model 204 Light Dry Fly, 3/2 and in EX condition sold for $4100. A (Winchester) Barney & Berry #7241, 3/2 in mint reached $251. An H. W. Hawes 8'6", 3/1, sold by Abercrombie & Fitch and VG brought $720. A Montague Redwing, 8'6", 3/2 and EX sold for $202.50. A Hardy Palakona 12' fly rod in VG brought $420. An Orvis Midge fly rod, 7'6", 2/2 and EX sold for $620. A Pezon et Michel "Sawyer Nymph" #4, 2/1 and mint reached $909.99.

Rod handles are still bringing lots of money to collectors in Japan. A Featherweight All Angle with cork handle and New in Box reached $616.99. It is shown here. Also a Fenwick brown casting handle with collet in EX sold for $338.

A bamboo Heddon #900 Musky Special, 5', 2/1 and EX brought $201.88.  A Heddon #200 5'6"  casting rod, 2/1, c1936-38, and VG sold for $127.50.

Fiberglass rods were led off by a mint Fenwick Voyageur fly rod 7'6", 4/1, for a 6 wt. which received 29 bids before selling for $460.  A pair of Buck Perry solid glass Spoonplug trolling rods in VG brought $172.49. A Phillipson Master Fiberglass spinning rod MS70M, 7', 2/1, and mint reached $302.57. A Fenwick FF535 Midge fiberglass fly rod , 5'3", 2/1 and EX sold for $209.73.

Reels:

Older casting reels included a Malleson or JVH Black Bass reel, GS/HR and EX sold for $1140. It is shown to the left. A Meisselbach Okeh #630, mint in an EX box/papers that sold for $306.99. A Liberty Bell 100 yd reel in VG brought $305.50. An America #2 in VG- reached $266.16. A Wm. Shakespeare Jr. Model C in coin solver and VG sold for $950. Another Shakespeare Jr, a Service 3L, pre-1910 and EX, sold for $117.50. A Shakespeare Beetzsel LW casting reel in EX brought $203.50. An unmarked brass ball handle reel with an unusual level wind and VG sold for $890. A gold anodized  Heddon Pal #25, EX in an EX box TOP ONLY, reached $202.50. 

A D&T Specialty Indiana style reel, VG on a steel rod sold for $199.99. A Benson rod and reel combination with case and VG reached $187.99.

Fly reels were led off by a Seamaster Mark III Dual Mode, in EX which sold for $1325. A 2-5/8" Leonard Model 44 in GS/HR and EX brought $1197. A Julius Vom Hofe raised pillar trout reel, #1 size and GS/HR in VG reached $406.09. A McVickar & Son salmon fly reel in EX sold for $192.50, while a VG example brought $143.

Newer casting reels included a gold plated ABU Ambassadeur 5500C Deluxe, new in the wooden box with a VG covering cardboard box that sold for $3760. It is shown to the left. Another gold trimmed Ambassadeur Deluxe - a 5600CDL that was new in its wooden box - reached $1505.25.

A J. A. Coxe 12/0 big game reel by Bronson and EX sold for $1250. A Pflueger Avalon with early Williams drag, 350 yds and VG condition brought $399.

Miscellaneous Fishing Stuff:

There seems to be quite a bit of interest in older fish hooks now, whether they are packaged or not. This month a large well marked "T. J. Conroy" salt water hook in VG sold for $219.50. You can see it to the right.

A New Zealand trout fishing travel poster from the 1930s in EX sold for $833.23. An Edward Vom Hofe 1931 catalog, EX in mailer sold for $155.50, while a good condition EVH 1937 example brought $76.50. A Fin-Nor Tycoon catalog, c1960s and VG, sold for $229.48.

An early 1900s fisherman shaving mug in VG sold for $237.50. An Arbogast Jitterbug ceramic ash tray in VG-EX reached $45.44. A Shakespeare "Pig" glass minnow trap in EX- brought $810 and a Shakespeare #7715 glass trap EX in CB box sold for $187.18. 

A beautiful 7¼" Marvin Mason Jr. brook trout fish decoy sold for $280. Enjoy it here.

A VG- Abercrombie & Fitch leather reel case for a 3-1/8" diameter fly reel sold for $160.27, while an A&F 20" trout landing net in EX brought $192.50.

And last, but not least, a red plastic UMCO tackle box in VG condition sold for $190.50.

Ed Note: Some of the photos are coming up incorrectly on this report. I have no idea why, for they are correct when I posted the information. I'll see if I can get things working right, but I'm no computer guru. I believe they should be correct now.
