eBay Report - March 2003
March seemed to be a good month for the buyers.
Miscellaneous Items:
Tackle boxes seemed to be popular this month. We had a
Meek Tackle box with some tackle in it in G-VG condition that brought
$266. An Abercrombie and Fitch mahogany box in EX received 25 bids and
sold for $676.66. And a Sears Ted Williams tackle box #3465 from 1964,
full of decent tackle reached $306.
A
triangular shaped green glass minnow trap that was in EX condition brought
$392.77. It is shown here. Then you could keep your minnows in a c1900
Novelty Minnow Float, submarine style minnow bucket in faded condition
reached $172.50.
A Philip R. Goodwin calendar complete in VG-EX condition,
with a nice fishing scene reached $112.50. A c1920-31 casting medal from
the San Francisco Fly Casting Club came up. It was neat - with a medallion
on top and bars for each club event won, and 14K gold. This item had a
starting bid of $850, and that's where it started and finished with one
bid. Another award pin that received lots of attention was a Field and
Stream Honor Badge for a 152 pound Tarpon. It was bid to $182.49.
A Shakespeare reel repair kit in a metal box, and with
lots of parts still in it brought $238.00. It was in VG condition.
Rods:
Top quality bamboo rods are still either not selling, or
are in the $1000-2000 range, so we'll bottom feed this month. Those Action
Rods are still doing OK, with one with a grey & pink handle in EX shape
bringing $162.50. Another similar rod only reached $102.50, and I couldn't
help but wonder if it was due to the fact that the seller's photos took so
long to load that I grew tired of waiting. Another one with a red and
white grip, with a color coordinated Ocean City LW reel reached $202.50.
A Jim Heddon Favorite bamboo casting rod, 6' long, and in
unfished condition reached $333. A 2 piece 6.5' Fenwick Feralite
fiberglass casting rod with a white Champion handle brought $452. It was
VG+ condition. A pair of Fenwick Lunkerstik's 5.5' and unused condition
sold a week apart. The first brought $302, and the second $303, so I guess
you could say that was probably what they were worth. A Phillipson 2 piece
fiberglass casting rod, light action and VG+ brought $390.50.

There weren't a lot of high dollar lures this month, but
there were plenty of neat unusual miscellaneous items. Some of them
follow.

news in reels this month was the first model Pflueger Akron which brought
$2994.43. This is a German silver Kentucky style reel, not the common
level wind baitcaster that we are all familiar with. It was in VG-EX

with leather case reached $362.50. A Pflueger Hawkeye fly reel, GS and

pop up spinning reel in EX reached $159.15. A production Schulz spincaster
