Miscellaneous Fishing Stuff:
As mentioned on the home page, a very rare Paw Paw Porcelain sign
in VG sold this
month.
It brought $1575, and is shown here. The same seller had a Shakespeare
tin sign, c1948, that was 24 x 14 inches and VG. It sold for $667. A
c1890s Monarch Rubber Co. tin sign for Buckskin Rubber Boots, 23 x 17
inches and VG brought $688.
A Cream City Midget #2 Minnow and Frog bucket, c1890s, green and VG
sold for $555.51. A McSwain glass minnow trap, blue-green color and
VG, brought $167.50.
A British combination landing net and walking stick from the 1880s
in VG sold for $127.50. A Hardy glass oil bottle that was EX in box
brought $376.01. A Bardohl Sportsman's Oil can c1950s in VG+ brought
$58.51. A VG leather fly rod case with V.L.&A. markings reached
$202.50. An EX condition leather big game fighting harness with Edward
Vom Hofe stampings sold for $82.
A 1927 South Bend catalog in Fine condition sold for $75.55. J.H.
Keene's Fishing Tackle Its Materials and Manufacture 1st
Edition 1886 and in Fine brought $455.
An Oscar Peterson
brook trout spearing decoy, 6¼ inches long in VG
sold for $660.99. It is shown to the left. A Max Lexow 7½" trout decoy
with glass eyes and VG+ brought $765.51.
A Field & Stream fishing contest silver pin
for a salmon in EX brought $236.59. A pair of Kingfisher line spools,
EX- in box sold for $64, while a Gladding sample book of fishing lines
with 25 pages and hundreds of samples, in VG sold brought $103.51. A
Fullerton Bros., Topeka, KS. round split shot tin in EX reached
$139.50. An old Al Foss Bass Strips pork rind jar in VG sold for
$114.49.
Lures:
Creek Chub lures were led by a Dingbat in a special order color,
and VG+ that
reached
$1560. It is shown to the right. A Sarasota Special for Sutcliffe Hdw.
of Louisville, KY, in silver flash, VG+, that sold for $273.50. A
#7000 in Fireplug that was VG+ in a VG box reached $228.50. A #7438W
Pikie, white/pink & yellow spots and EX in an EX correct box sold for
$228.50.
A highlight in the lures by miscellaneous makers was a Paw Paw Pike
Caster #7700. This mint lure in G box was a rainbow trout and it sold
for $537.77. A Paw Paw Southern Pike in white/red bars and in VG
condition sold for $224.72. Three Winchester bass flies, VG on VG
cards brought $598.88. A six pack box only for Brooklures, with nice
graphics, that was EX sold for $410. A wooden Castaic Rainbow Trout
swimbait, NIB, brought $331.75. A Kent Pardee Double Spinner Minnow, 5
hook, green color and VG- condition sold for $1125. A Haas Liv-Minnow
in a golden scale finish and VG+ in an EX box brought $455. A Greider
Retreating Minnow, perch color and VG in a VG box sold for $967.55.
A J. T. Buel, pat. 1852 spoonbait in VG condition brought $540. A
very rare Al Foss salt water Super Lure #21, 4½"
and VG-EX reached $721.
Heddon lures included a wooden Zaragossa #6500 in frog finish and
VG that topped out at $310.79. A VG+ Musky Surfusser #300 in
strawberry spot brought $316. A Punkinseed in red scale shore minnow
and VG brought $515. An EX plastic Heddon Swayback Zara Spook in
Golden Musky color sold for $1009.99.
A Shakespeare
Egyptian Wobbler, EX with photo finish reached $205.02. A Shakespeare
Punkinseed sinker minnow, green back, red and white belly, and VG-
sold for $362.38. A Pflueger Floating Monarch Minnow in rainbow color
and EX sold for $727. It is shown to the left. A Pflueger 5 hook
Neverfail Minnow in sienna crackleback and EX reached $255.88. A neat
Rhodes Mechanical Frog by the Kalamazoo Fishing Tackle Company, in EX
in a VG cardboard picture box received 25 bids before topping out at
$1802.
Reels:
Newer casting reels were topped by an ABU Ambassadeur gold 5500.
The seller
provided no
description making buyers rely on photos only (why do people do
that?), but it appeared to be EX-, you can judge it to the
right, and brought $860. A green Ambassadeur 500D, EX in an EX
box/papers sold for $239.50. An Ambassadeur Ultra Mag XLIV (large salt
water casting reel) that was mint in box with papers reached $252.
A Shakespeare Alpha 1981 in VG sold for $325. A Lew's Speed Spool by
Shimano that was EX in bag with papers and tools sold for $157.50.
Older casting reels were led off by a Talbot model 31. It was in
VG+ and sold for $530. A Meisselbach Okeh #620 that was EX in an EX
picture box brought $355. A Meisselbach Takapart, EX in an EX- box
with papers topped out at $200. A real steal was a 1st model
Meisselbach Take Apart BOX (with a Takapart 480 in it) in G that sold
for $108.50. A BF Meek & Sons #2 with tournament
handle and in EX reached $808.58. A Heddon #35 in VG sold for $1425.
An early Pflueger Akron, EX in a VG maroon box brought $162.50.
Fly reels included a Pflueger Supreme #577 that was Mint in a G box
with all the
goodies.
It sold for $127.50. A Shakespeare Muskegon fly reel box ONLY in G-VG
brought $86. A VG Dingley 3" left hand reel with red agate line guide
reached $760. A Julius Vom Hofe #4 raised pillar, aluminum and German
silver, fly reel in VG brought $1008.09. It is shown here.
A Hurd Supercaster with 5' rod in mint condition sold for $335. A
Winchester made Barney & Berry #2250 raised pillar utility reel, EX in
a VG box, brought $152.50. A VG Penn box and instructions ONLY for a
Bridge City surf reel skyrocketed to $240.07.
Rods:
An Orvis "Wes Jordan" bamboo fly rod in EX/VG leather tube sold for
$910. It was an 8', 2/2 model. An Orvis "Shooting Star" fly rod, 9',
2/2 and reconditioned to EX brought $660.
There were some nice California Winston fiberglass rods sold from
one collection. They included a 7' spinning rod 2/1 @ $293; a 6'6"
spinning rod 2/1 @ $350.25; an 8'6" fly rod, 4/1; and a steelhead 8'6"
casting rod 2/1 @ $281. All were in mint condition. A Fenwick Feralite
6'6" fiberglass spin rod #FS 65 in mint brought $165.02. Another
Fenwick, a Lunkerstik Mdl 2049 UL in EX brought $430.25. A Shakespeare
Wonderod #1290, 7'9", 2/1 and EX sold for $120.59.
A Heddon 1909-14 leather 36" rod case in VG sold for $177.50. A
Winchester #5740 steel bait rod, 9', 4/1 and EX reached $493.88.
