Spinning Reel Report - February 2007

BITTER COLD !!! BLIZZARD HITS NORTHEAST ON VALENTINES DAY ----- BUT EBAY STAYS HOT-HOT-HOT

Featured Reels: 

Another Rare SEAMASTER w/FB exc+ was listed with a starting price of $100.00 with NO reserve!!! the next day the high bid was up to $200.00 then it was removed by the seller and no longer available!!! will bet that the seller had no idea what he had??? seeing as how it took me over ten years to find one. I'm very surprised that this was the third one of these to go to auction from late Nov. 06 wonder who got this one???

From France was a listing for four French Proto-type reels. two fly reels and a Ru-Contour- Mepps c-1984 and a Helion marked R. Freny c-1945 spinning reels. all were exc+ to minty with a starting price of $10,000.00 and a buy-it now of $13,000.00. there were no Bids.

Other reels of notable interest:

an early Dam-Quick w/FB and anti-reverse marked Stationar Rolle-Berlin NIB sold @ 1,061.21 after 21 bids. bids were from Italy, Austria, Germany, The Netherlands and USA. a rare Abu/Record 500 minty with fitted leather case sold @ 1693.29.  a Garcia Mitchell 408DL e+wb sold @ 1256.99. a Magic fishing reel exc+w/plastic box sold @ 212.50. an Illingworth #3 w/gold rim on spool exc-w/case sold @ 631.47 and a Penn 430 special CF NIB sold @ 356.00

an Alcedo 2 C/S later version bent leg nib sold @ 135.50. a Orvis 100SS nib sold @ 100.00 another rare Nettuno P-10 CF exc sold @ 239.33 and a Holliday 30 first version nib sold @ 227.50.
